Great Basin : Jul 2008
The Great Basin is a 200,000 square mile area where water drains internally with no outlet to either the Gulf of Mexico or the Pacific Ocean. The region is bounded by the Wasatch Mountains to the east, the Sierra Nevada to the west, and the Snake River Plain to the north. The south rim is less distinct. Great Basin National Park is a small representative of this diverse region. We hiked to a glacier, saw thousand year old bristlecone pines, toured a cave, hiked to an arch and just plain relaxed at base camp in 3 fun-filled days here.
